What are U.S. Fans saying about

the 1K Years tour?

Princeton, NJ 11/03/04
Thanks for bringing 1000 Years of Popular Music to Princeton! It was one of the most remarkable and enjoyable shows I've ever seen. (Nice recovery after your string broke!)I hope you put out a second CD with the other material.
I just heard your 1000 years show in Princeton NJ with my brothers it was so inspiring thank you.I grew up in UK and , summer is icumenIn was quite a memory to say nothing of the Mikado which I had to witness with my mother in the lead role !!I loved it all and Judith Owen oh those wealsh realy know how to siiing oh yes my mother also sang Dido we had a blast good memories, and the jokes always so good, a bit of familiar humour , and last but not least the amazing guitar that became anything from a harpsicord to a banjo and so much more I never thought the guitar could sound so many ways keep doing this show come to Philli or Prinston again soon.
Excellent show Wed. night at McCarter. Can't wait till next year. Will be 6th or 7th in a row there. Everybody should check out Judith Owen too, she's got a great voice and stage presence.
I was at the final concert of the 1KYears tour at the McCarter Theater in Princeton, NJ. Mr. T was in rare form, as were the two young ladies who were an integral part of the show. As a Brit import of a certain age, I particularly enjoyed the performance of the Kinks' "See My Friends", which I had not heard in over thirty years, and which sounded, in Mr. T.'s performance, even more powerful and ominous than it did in its heyday. I would pay real cash money for a DVD of the 1000 Years live performance. Is there any danger of that occurring?
loved the concert in Princeton last night--great lift from gloom of US election results--our daughter has known you forever. Where was I?
Saw Priceton show Nov 2004. Great. Looking forward to next time.
Saw the show in Princeton last night, it was simply amazing.  RT was obviously having a great time, enjoying both the material & the musicians. Judith and Debra were a joy , adding a depth of talent to an already deep pool. As always, even after all these years, RT never ceases to astound me.

I saw Richard Last night at McCarter Theater in Princeton, NJ for the 1st time. MY sister is a fan and now I am!
Northampton, MA 11/01/04
What a great, great show.  I don't think there's anyone else on earth who can perform this breadth of material as entertainingly and convincingly.  When it was over, I was astonished to find that two and a half hours had passed.  I brought two friends who'd never seen RT before, and they were blown away.  They are looking forward to seeing him do a show of his own material. Now how about a show of the best music of the next millennium?
Iron Horse in Northampton, MA 11-01-04 (or 01-11-04, as it were)day before King George returned to the U.S....Greatest Show on Earth...with Judith, et al. 1000 Years of Popular Music + the amazing thing was that no-one yelled for "Vincent 52", etc...we all just basked in the glory that is RT...!!! Thank you for attending our 350 seat venue - it was a lifetime treat..!! ( and I lived in Sandbank - Dunoon, Scotland from '79 to '82 listening to John Martyn ). You're magic! Cheers...!!!
Lebanon, NH 10/30/04

The show in Lebanon NH last Saturday was even better than I expected, since I got to hear Judith and Debra as well as RT. Fantastic selections, and I loved the fact that they came in from the back of the auditorium. Suggestion: how about letting Debra loose on a Sippie Wallace or Billie Holliday number? I'd have liked to hear her do one on her own. Richard, please come to New Hampshire every year!
Just saw the New Hampshire 1,000 years of popular music show. Really special treat. Anyone wavering on a decision to go see an upcoming show on the tour, go for it. Imagine RT solo, then add two equally talented co-conspirators providing vocals, percussion and a some keyboards on selected numbers, an ecclectic mix of songs and styles, RT's sense of humor, and you have one thoroughly enjoyable evening.
I was in Lebanon, NH for the 1K concert Saturday, 10/30. I was absolutely blown away. Even though I am a longtime fan and have seen him live with the band, the range of material, his versatility and his wit and stage presence made this something special. I am a musician myself of many genres, and I am in awe of his intelligence and his mastery not only of his instrument but of music - a true musician!
Camden, ME 10./29/04
Brilliant selections and renditions, entertaining segues. Thanks for creating a joyful noise in the face of difficult times, and for your commitment to expanding your -- and our -- horizons.
I went with mixed feelings, knowing that RT would not be performing any of his own material. He, Debra, and Judith made forget about what I was missing, and instead I enjoyed over 2 hours of just great music and musicianship. Particularly enjoyed A-11 and Friday on My Mind. Thank you for not doing Proud Mary. Any plans for an RTB US tour in 2005?
Boston, MA 10/28/04
Would it be possible to find out the name of the Kinks song Richard played the other night in Boston? It doesn't seem to be part of the established 1,000 years repertoire. Thank you. A really great show.
Recently I was fortunate enough to catch 1000 Years in Boston. Any chance of an additional thousand years release with some of the wonderful additional tracks not on the original CD ("See My Friends, "London Pride"). Not to mention the fuller arrangements with additional vocals by Deborah and some lovely keyboards by Judith.
Hi.. I saw Berklee and Lebanon, and very pleased each time. I keep imagining the Trio doing Eric Carmen's "Go all the way" now. This was a rich experience. I would dearly appreciate access to audio versions "Shenandoah" and "A-11" someday. My best regards
Alexandria, VA 10/25/04 and 10/26/04
Just saw the 1000 years of popular music show. Great!
Both shows were utterly marvelous! My husband and sister and I were blown away by the performances and so glad we attended the second night to hear many of the new songs another time! Will a song list be posted sometime? There were several new songs that I would love to know more about. Thanks for two fabulous nights of wonderful music. P.S. Richard and Debra improvising "Rock-lahoma" when my sister asked for a show tune was a highlight! We think something from "My Fair Lady" is in order for the next 1000 Years tour!
Montclair, NJ 10/23/04
Thanks for a wonderful night of music and enlightenment. You interpretations and presentation were as effective as the church was beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the summer song at the beginning, the yearning of the Yeats poem and Shenandoah was strong and moving. You are a renaissance man whose talents are remarkable.
Great show as usual in Montclair(Outpost In The Burbs)
Tarrytown, NY 10/22/04
Just got back from Tarrytown show,1000 years of music, great show.
Albany, NY 10/21/04
I was able to secure two tickets to last night's show at the Egg in Albany. My better half and I tried to hold up our end of the audience sing alongs (we were the two, audible voices in that dulcet crowd during the call and response on Sam Hall, and may have been the only folks in rows b-J who knew the lyrics to that lovely Brittney ballad!).  A tip o' the hat to RT and company on a terrific evening, especially loved the Java Jive.  Our 14 month old son marches about our home singing Cuckoo and our 4 year old daughter is saddened to learn RT is happily married.
Glenside, PA 10/20/04
Hi, I just saw the 1000 years concert at the keswick wednesday night. It was wonderful fantastic beyond what I can say here so I won't try. Debra and Judith were a nice unexpected...bonus...I really liked the drums especially. It was the first concert I have been to in my life so it was really special. I had tried to see RT twice before, 1st time I didn't have money for a ticket, 2nd time was at the Philly folk festival and I was 8.5 months pregnant and afraid of going into labor all the way out at that farm. (I actually wasn't that concerned...but nobody would agree to take me for that reason) I took my mother to the concert for her birthday, she introduced me to RT when I was about, er, 10 or so. She was really excited too and kept thanking me over and over for taking her and told to me to write to your man selling CDs in the lobby who was so nice to us. Anyway, thank you for providing us such a wonderful experiance wednesday nite and for creating...I am madly in love with you...er, your music. ;)
Just saw that show at the Keswick Theatre last night and thought it was sensational. I hope you come back to the Philadelphia region soon. I would like to have heard more of your music but I still think it was really great moving through all those genre and centuries of music. A real variety special as it were. Thanks again. We waited a long time to hear you again. We last saw you at Colorado College in 1988-89. And like fine wine....
The 1,000 years show was one of the best ever Richard shows I've seen. Saw it October 20 and now am looking for other dates to take some more people.
I was there for my first Richard Thompson experience on 10/20/04 and was lucky enough to be in the second row. I never heard the name of the woman playing drums. She was wonderful and I would love to know who she is.
GREAT show Oct 20 at the Keswick Theater in Glenside (PA, USA). Loved the repartee with the audience, especially the Scots accent.
Last Wednesday, I attended the show at the Keswick Theater in Glenside, PA.  I have been to many shows over the years and this was one of the best, if not THE BEST, I've seen yet!   What an extraordinary talent!!
I will also be attending the show at McCarter Theater in Princeton, NJ.
I've never enjoyed a live concert so much! It's always fun to go see RT! Thanks Richard!
Glen Ellyn, IL 10/16/04
I had the good fortune of attending the performance at College of DuPage last evening. I brought my wife and two friends, all three unaware of your talents. We had a wonderful time! I only wish I had more of my friends with to share in the good fun. Thanks
Saw the show in Glen Ellyn, IL last week. Great job!
I really loved the show on Saturday at College of Dupage. My husband, 8 yr. old daughter and I attended. We all thought it was great. My daughter was riveted by Debra. My daughter plays guitar, but I think she's going to start asking for ankle percussion now. What was the name of the band and song from "down under" that you played last? We really liked it. It was hard not to dance.
Saw your last 2 "1000 years" concerts at College of duPage. you only get better. What your doing now is great. Better than anything in the past. Thank you for a wonderful show saturday night and god bless you.

My wife and I were front-row center for the College of DuPage show. Thank you and Debra and Judith for an amazing evening. Thanks again for a great time. We look forward to seeing you in the spring.
Madison, WI 10/15/04
I saw your show in Madison, it was one of the best musical experiences of my life. Great songs, great singing and Mr. Thompson's guitar playing is out of this world.
I saw your "1000 years of music" show in Madison, Wisconsin. It was wonderful -- you and Judith and Debra were just great!
St. Paul, MN 10/13/04
"I attended Richard's brilliant concert last night in St. Paul, and I wanted to make it clear that Hank Cochran is not from Minnesota - he's from the other end of the Mississippi River, Mississippi. I thiink the audience member may have confused him with Eddie Cochran (who played for a while with Hank) who was from Albert Lea, Minnesota. Sorry about the confusion. We'll take credit for Bob Dylan, Prince, Judy Garland, and Garrison Keillor, but we can't take credit for Hank Cochran. Great show. Thanks."
Lincoln, NE 10/12/04
"Just attended your concert in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was even better than I hoped. Thank you."
"Richard Thompson, thank you for playing in Lincoln, Ne. last night! It was truly a night to remember- I loved the show like you wouldn't believe. I just read the RT biography, have bought many albums recently, and have just become a really great fan. Then I lurked here on this website and saw he's playing a gig here in Nebraska! Could life be any better!?"
Lived 1000 yrs last night in Lincoln Ne. Richard you were 80-90 miles due west of Shenandoah Iowa during that show. Thanks Kenny .
Lawrence, KS 10/11/04
caught another great show last night at liberty hall.always good for the soul.god bless
Great concert last night even though I missed hearing some Richard Thompson originals.
Just saw the "1,000 Years of Popular Music" tour in Lawrence, KS last Monday, 11 October.
It is a thrill to see a master craftsman practice his art. Each time
Richard steps back from the mike to play his guitar it's a treat. He,
Judith and Debra were all in top form at the show. The mix of songs was eclectic to say the least, but did a great job of featuring the talents of Judith and Debra as well as Richard. His banter with the crowd added to the fun. This was my fifth time to see him either acoustically or with the band and he just continues to get better. The only disappointment in the acoustic shows is not getting the greatest gift of being a RT fan...the extended electric solos. Come back to Kansas soon Richard and next time bring the band!
San Francisco, CA 10/7/04
"I couldn't wait to rave about the ""1000 Years"" show at Bimbo's 365 Club. In over twenty years of seeing Richard in various band and solo shows, I don't think I've ever enjoyed an RT show more than this one. Brilliant song choices, performed with obvious love and joy. Judith and Debra seem to make sympathetic musical foils for our man Richard. Can this become an annual occasion? How about a residency at one of our fine local institutions of higher learning? Many, many thanks, for this and all of the wonderful shows over the years."
"I caught the 100 Years show in San Francisco last night, and found it very entertaining."
"I just saw RT's 1000 Years of Music show at Bimbo's in San Francisco and it was a truly magical, joyous experience. I cannot imagine a more perfect show, although I said the same thing after seeing his full electric band at Villa Montalvo a few years ago. These two concerts show his incredible range in terms of musical styles and I'm very thankful that I live in a place where I have the privelege of seeing him on a regular basis. Thank you for providing many wonderful memories!"
Loved the 1000 year show in SF - would travel a long way to see it again.
Irvine, CA 10/6/04
"My wife and I enjoyed the show last night at the Barclay; it's a wonderful venue, you started promptly and the opening was unique. Judith Owen and Debra Dobkin added great depth to the performance. Reading the playbill, I noticed that Judith had a song featured on The Simpsons. Would you ever consider a guest role as Willy the Groundskeeper's brother? "
"I drove over from Yuma, AZ, to catch the 1000 years show at the Barclay and was astounded. I had seen you do a smattering of the concept at your previous Barclay show and highly anticipated the full regalia. Not a disappointment in the bunch and must say the older the material the more fascinating I found it. You really make colloquial medieval Italian rock. I can only hope that you continue with this concept and uncover more of these incredible jewels. Also the sound at the Barclay was great. All credit to your sound man, Simon I think? Keep up the great work. "
Saw the show at the Barclay in Irvine Oct. 2004 - it was beyond superlatives. Even better than a spectacular show at the Wilshire-Ebell Theatre, several years ago. Thanks!! Thanks for music unlike any other!
