RT - You're a brilliant man. Just heard you again - at Royce Hall. I wish those damn women would stop breaking your heart. I wouldn't do that to you.
Your secret admirer
Costa Mesa, California - Richard is a god. I just introduced another friend to his music and she's now a fan for life. What could be better?
Phoenix, AZ 09/26/07
The Phoenix show was outstanding, as was the band, who played like a tight jazz combo. Pete Zorn's solos were a real high point, and the audience response bordered on religious devotion (as usual).
I saw Richard for the 4th time last night in Phoenix. The show, as usual, was fantastic.
Tucson, AZ 09/25/07
Hi. I'm long term fan of your versatile music and witty lyrics, but this week was the first time I've been to a concert. The band's energy and RT's beaming face made it a magical evening for me. Probably the best concert I've ever attended. Come back to Tucson soon, and Thanks!
Last night's show in Tucson was exquisite! You were in fine form, and provided blistering guitarwork on "Hard on Me". The stuff from the new album really rocks, too! You need to come back EVERY six months, sir!
Taos, NM 09/24/07
It was a truly amazing concert—the venue was an unknown commodity to us, but the best way I can characterize it is like seeing your favorite artist play in someone's back yard! We estimated that there were 300-350 people there under a nearly full moon with the Taos mountains as a backdrop. The band was in absolutely top form, the sound was excellent, and a VERY good time was had by one and all. After hanging near the back initially we moved up to the front and spent the rest of the concert at the very foot of the stage—an unbelievable treat. The best thing of all was how much the band seemed to be enjoying themselves. The set list was an excellent mix of old and new—from "Bright Lights" to "Dad's Gonna Kill Me" and all manner of treats in between. Thank you Richard & KTAO!! Keep coming back—New Mexico loves you!
Austin, TX 09/22/07
Thank you for a massively splendid show. Though I haven't smoked in nearly as many years as I've been seeing you live, I felt like I needed a cigarette after some of the blazing work you and the band blessed us with the other evening. Keep coming back to Austin!
Attended back to back RTB shows in Dallas and Austin. These guys make magic every night. Wish we could follow them to the coast. They're the best!
Dear Richard,
I am hoping that it is you who gets this, however,I wish to let you know[or,at the very least cyberspace know ] how moved and delighted I was by your music and artistry. I believe it to be one of the most purely happy moments of my entire life. Happiness consists of moments that are pure magic, off setting the challenges, frustrations ,and pain of living. For me,your bands performance, and you, will always remain one of those moments.I had the good fortune of sitting fairly close center;and I spent the evening feeling like I had received an incredible gift. Thank You, Richard, I love your work.
Dallas, TX 09/21/07
Hey, Just wanted to say how much I loved the concert in Dallas last Friday. After being a fan of Richard's recordings for the last 20 years, this was my first time to see him live and I must say it will remain as one of the best nights of music in all of my 50 years of listening.
Just got home from the 9/21 concert in Dallas...gotta be one of my all-time favorite concerts! Please keep me informed on when you will be back in town. You (and your band) were great! Thank you so much for a fantastic show!
Boulder, CO 09/18/07
Richard, Hurry please! Come back to Colorado soon! Saw you twice this summer in Boulder, but the Fox theater performance just blew me away! I am what you would call, an "older fan", Fairport Convention age. Now I get my son, {26} turned onto you. "Hard On Me" just pulled him. I still play "Liege and lief" all the time. Good luck on your travels, but come back to Colorado and play for me again. Thank you.
I've seen Richard eight times, but his solo last night on (I believe) "hard on me" was the finest I've seen him play. Always, always a pleasure to hear Richard Thompson play!
Englewood, CO 09/17/07 I want to report Richard and the band were in great voice this night in Denver. One of the best paced and well-balanced shows I have seen in my 20 years as a fan. I just want to say thank you to Richard and the boys for delivering a passionate performance with beautiful dynamics and rockin’ good times all in the same show. Special highlights for me were a moving version of "King of Bohemia", the band tearing up "Hard On Me" (and I have to say as a fan of long guitar solos and a musician myself I was actually frightened by RT’s second solo in a good way) and seeing RT and Pete having fun on "A Bone Through Her Nose" and "Read About Love". And the show helped make me a big fan of the new sweetheart song "Take Care the Road You Choose". Admiration, joy, grief, and various strains of yearning are all part of the emotional palette I went through as a fan on this night along with the enthusiastic chosen ones who saw a great show. Michael Jerome, you are something else! There should be a picture of you in the drummer’s dictionary next to the word "tasteful". I didn’t catch the electric bassist’s name, but I thought he fit in well with the band, and his funny faces while playing were a gas. Good work all!
just saw RT @ the Gothic theater in Englewood, CO. An awsome show
Salt Lake City, UT 09/15/07
Saw you in San Francison 9/7 and then again in Salt Lake City on 9/15 - the greatest musician most Americans have never heard of. I was sorry you didn't do Beeswing at either concert, but thrilled to hear Wall of Death, '52 Vincent, and I Still Dream. You are getting better with age, as songs like Guns are the Tongue, Sunset Song and Needle and Thread so aptly demonstrate. Your mates in the band are all fantasic. I hope to see you again.
I was at your show at the Depot in Salt Lake City just tonight. I brought along my 22-year old daughter who is the lead guitarist in a local band. She loves your music as well. We were both blown away by the show.
Vancouver, BC 09/12/07
Sincerest thanks, RT and RTB for your extraordinary Commodore Ballroom performance in Vancouver recently. Talk about firing on all cylinders! We were reeling and rocking throughout. Your inclusion of Sandy Denny's wondrous 'Who Knows Where The Time Goes' was absolutely unexpected and without a doubt the highlight of the evening, among many! 'Til the next time you travel up this way again, thanks for a lifetime of music that truly matters. So glad you're out there getting it done.
Thankyou so much for the new music & the Vancouver Show. I feel this is your best work ever, but as I start thinking of all my Richard Thompson favourites I become somewhat confused and unable to believe I've come to that conclusion???? Definetly some of your best guitar playing. I'm proud of you and proud to have shakin' your hand back in 1991 when you played the Commodore with Shawn Colvin. A sweeter version of Waltzings for Dreamers shall never be heard again. It will be a dark day for me when you stop making the effort. You keep me picking up my guitar and singing. If you can play a song in someones living room and move them then you have a good song and artist. You can do that. I've seen you solo, with Danny Thompson on Bass and with a full band, and all were powerful emotionally conective performances..what ever that means??? I've got to go have supper now. Thank you Richard Thompson
Great show in Vancouver BC last week! Consider stopping in Olympia between Portland and Seattle next time on I-5!
Just a totally great performance at the Commodore in Vancouver on Sept. 12. Pete Zorn and the other band members sounded terrific, and Mr. Thompson was soulfull and virtuosic, articulate and passionate in delivering every tune. Real tears to hear "Who Knows Where The Time Goes". Thanks for the great music always! What an incredible show!!All the songs were totally rockin'. I especially liked the songs from the new CD.
I saw you and your incredible band tonight at the Comodore in Vancouver. A show like that keeps me sawing my fiddle and picking at my guitar. You were amazing. Thanks for an amazing show. Come back soon!!
Seattle, WA 09/11/07
Thanks for a fine Seattle concert last week. For some reason my wife and I, who are small, were surrounded by people of enormous height and prodigious girth. This also happened to us at an Aly Bain/Phil Cunningham concert last year. I'm wondering if there's some kind of Celtic association with giants. But we loved the music, and as usual wished there had been a dance floor. One small negative: I've never been at an RT concert that was too loud before, but I had to put my fingers in my ears at the Moore to be able to hear your words. Perhaps that's an artifact of where we sat in the balcony (not to mention aging!). But I thought I'd mention it in case you care about such things and have any control over them. I know I pay money to buy your albums and see your concerts, but the tradeoff always seems unfairly in my favor: your gift to us so vastly exceeds what we offer in exchange.
I thought last night's show was AMAZING! You're playing better than ever and sound unbelievable! You blow my mind!!! Love the new album too (and all the other albums I have that I still listen to). Your band was fantastic too, as always.Thank you for such an amazing show. I felt very privileged to have been there. I hope you come back to the Seattle area again soon.
Thanks to you and the rest of the band for a fantastic show in Seattle last night! I hope you're recording shows on this tour for another live album--I'd buy it in a second! (Maybe even a two CD set of the entire show?)
Thanks for a lovely show tonight at the Moore Theater in Seattle. As always, seeing and hearing you play was a treat. Don't stay away so long between visits to the Pacific Northwest.
Portland, OR 09/10/07
Just Thanks! For a wonderful show at the Aladdin in Portland this past Monday night. Come back again soon!
Loved Fairport, for some reason I'm just getting into Mr. Thompson's solo post-Fairport work. What I have missed! And how much fun I'll have catching up! Loved your live show in Portland, OR, I'll try to never miss another.

just saw the portland show last night. Richard was phenomenal!! It was a magical evening. Everything was great. After so many years of being a fan, i'm amazed that i could become more of one. Can't wait to see him again. The band was great, really missed Danny though.
Thanks so much for so many years of such wonderful music.
Saratoga, CA 09/08/07
Saw both of his brilliant performances at The Fillmore and The Winery. What a great albumn of new music to go out and support.I enjoyed the the Fillmore venue much more, but my wife and I look forward to seeing you perform again early this Dec, at the carriage House and that the seating is better. All the Best!
The Mountain Winery show was fantastic! Your solo on "Hard on Me" was mind-blowing! Also, nice to hear the rarely played songs "A Bone Through Her Nose" and "I Still Dream". Looking forward to yor upcoming UCLA show. Since you're packing the electric guitar, I am obliged to step forward with a request...would you consider playing "Put it There, Pal" or "Can't Win" ? The guitar solos on those songs would be worth the price of admission alone! Thanks for the memories!
Thanks to you and the band for a great time at the Mountain Winery. Looking forward to Montalvo. Three all-request nights? You must have had as much fun as the audience did last year!
Just returned fom the superb show down at the Mountain Winery above Saratoga. Thanks for a great evening!
Saw RT and Band at the Mountain Winery, Saratoga last night. What a show! Haven't seen RT in a few years and forgot how incredibly funny he is. I was close enough to watch his fingers, and it was blowing my mind. Thanks for the music RT! "Sweet Warrior" is one of your very best.
Outstanding live shows!!!!! I hope he enjoyed The Mountain Winery, Saratoga, CA venue.
Saw RT @the Fillmore & The Winery in Saratoga. Brilliant performances supporting one of Richard's finest and sadly (because of the world scene) most relevant recordings. Bravo and thank you.
San Francisco, CA 09/07/07
I had the privilege of attending your fantastic 9/7 concert at the Fillmore. I'm looking forward to the next time you swing by the Bay Area again. Thanks for all your great music!
When you played the Fillmore in San Francisco last weekend, and got the very enthusiastic reaction to announcing "One Door Opens", and asked, why that one? That was me, and the answer is, because it's brilliant.
Fantastic show at the Fillmore in SF on 9/7/07. How do you manage to keep getting better every year?
Carmel, CA 09/06/07
Last nights concert in Carmel CA was wonderful. Thanks!
