The album comes in three different formats: a standard edition CD, a deluxe edition containing 5 songs from a previously unreleased session entitled The Variations EP and a double disc 180-gram vinyl version for the audiophile in all of us.

Still was recorded in a two-story rehearsal loft in Chicago with Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy at the helm, backed by several longtime players from both Thompson’s and Tweedy’s bands.

"Richard's been one of my favorite guitar players for a very long time,” stated Tweedy. “When I think about it, he's also one of my favorite songwriters and favorite singers. He's the Ultimate Triple Threat. Getting to work closely with him on this record was a truly rewarding experience, not to mention a great thrill.  And he keeps alive my streak of working exclusively with artists who make me look good as a producer." - Jeff Tweedy

“Don’t worry about Richard Thompson mellowing with age: The folk rocker’s songs are still full of dangerous women and treacherous con men. A U.K. folk-rock institution rages on at the world and himself – into his golden years.” - Rolling Stone
