A friend gave me a ticket to your show at the Belly up last night. I had never heard your music before that. You are brilliant. Bravo!!! I am hooked. I came home and broke out my acoustic and started practicing. Cheers!
San Juan Capistrano, CA 3/11/07
Just saw the show at The Coach House. I am sooooo hooked, and my IQ is...adequate! :-)
Show at The CoachHouse in Dana Point was excellent. Thanks!!
We had a wonderful time at the Coach House concert last night. I took my daughter, son and 16 yr old guitar playing grandson who was blown away and so inspired. The good feeling persists today. Thank you, Richard!
Tucson, AZ 3/09/07
I just saw Richard at the Rialto in Tucson, AZ. What a great show and you have 2 more big fans. Thanks very much for a great night.
Wore the signed pick (now) earrings today and got compliments. Thanks Simon and Richard for hooking me up with the pair. The Rialto was "awesome!!"
Phoenix, AZ 3/08/07
Just saw the Phoenix show March 08, 2007 at the Rhythm Room w/ Eliza Gilkerson. Great show!!
Richard's performance at the intimate Rhythm Room in Phoenix on March 8 was characteristically extraordinary! "WOW" doesn't begin to touch it! A resident of KY, I had planned a visit to my friend's Phoenix home around Richard's concert date. As I commented after the show, he never fails to thrill! How he can sing many of the same songs with so much passion time after time is amazing – the mark of a true artist. The eloquence and depth of his lyrics, coupled with his blistering guitar and powerful vocals, elevate his performance to a level far beyond a mere evening’s entertainment. To experience one of his shows is truly a memorable, life enriching experience. Please convey my thanks and admiration to Richard. Now, if we can just get him back to Kentucky!
I recently watched your show in Phoenix and I was amazed that I never heard of you before , amazing performance !!
Flagstaff, AZ 3/07/07
My husband and I were in the audience for Richard's first performance in Flagstaff, AZ. I have been listening to his music for many years but have recently delved more deeply with the purchase of his boxed set and just about everything else I can get my hands on. About a month or so ago I said to my husband that I wanted to see Richard perform but at that time the only tour dates listed were in Glen Ellyn, IL and another in California. Needless to say I was frustrated. It was with great anticipation and an incredibly feeling of serendipity (after all-what were the chances that Richard Thompson would come to Flagstaff, AZ) that we attended the concert at the Orpheum Theater so close to our home! To our delight the performance was everything and more than we hoped for. His voice was rich and vibrant and the guitar was strong and fluid. What amazed us was how he kept up the quality of the performance from beginning to end. We could have sat there all night. And at the risk of sounding silly we both had tears in our eyes at various times during the night. We both feel blessed to have been there and we thank you for the incredibly energy you put into that wonderful performance. We hope that wasn't the first and only appearance in Flagstaff, AZ.
Santa Fe, NM 3/06/07
Hello old friend. My girlfriend and I celebrated our anniversary of 24 years of blissful sin by driving 300 miles to Santa Fe to see your show at the Lensic theater. It was the highlight of a great trip. We met, fell in love, and agreed upon one musical thing. In 1983 your music was special. It has remained special for us. We have seen you perform many times over the years and have left every show hand in hand with big smiles on our faces. Tuesday's show was no exception, it was superb! The next morning I called my old friend in Detroit and thanked him once again for playing "Bright Lights" for me way back in the dark ages. "When I get to the Border" got me for good! Do you ever play that these days? You obviously enjoy your job we we sure enjoy the songs, so I'm thinking you should stick with it. I'm looking forward to the new album and hope to see you again soon. Heres to a great 2007!
Saw you, Richard, in Santa Fe last night. My life can be over now... THAT was a highlight. You can make that guitar sound like percussion, like a harpsichord (continuo and melody), and like 3 people playing at once. Your songs run the gamut from light (Brains over Hearts) to classical to folk to the depths of emotional turmoil. Thanks for making my year. Please come out here again... it'll keep me going another year.
Dallas, TX 3/04/07
Saw the show in Dallas TX and REALLY liked the song about Smart Women!!!
After ten years of wanting and hoping, I *FINALLY* got to see you at the Lakewood in Dallas last night! I was stoked all day and the show exceeded my expectations! I cannot wait to see your show again, and thanks to tonight's show I think my new sweetheart may be a convert to your music too.
Saw the show last night in Dallas and it was wonderful.
Austin, TX 3/03/07
Richard told a wonderful joke in Austin, TX recently that involved an Englishman, a Frenchman, a German and an Italian. It involved Heaven and Hell, and who was in charge of wha0 in each. Can you remind me/give me the details? It was a delightful joke (and his performance was wonderful and amazing!). Thank you!
i loved the show in austin last weekend. perfectly beautiful!
Richard is amazing! Just saw him at the Texas Union Ballroom, and I am so glad I did!
I saw you in Austin a couple of nights ago, Richard. Wonderful show! Hopefully you'll play Houston proper next time. You're the best!
Wonderful show at the Texas Union Ballroom on Saturday! Thanks so much for bringing us those very special vibes.
"Dad's gonna kill me" - i really liked it when i heard him in concert in Austin last night.
Saw ya at the Cactus last night, you were gr8!
Great Show, keep singin' da blues!
Conroe, TX 3/02/07
Mr. Thompson's show at the Crighton Theater in Conroe, TX was simply a wonder to witness. I'm a fortunate man to have witnessed it.
Amazing show at the Crighton Theatre in Conroe. Better than the Beatles!
Watched you with Hayes, Great Show. I guess I should thank Hayes for turning me onto your music.
I really enjoyed your music at the Crighton theatre last night. I have heard your songs on the radio for many years, but have never purchased any of your music. I would like to get a copy of the album on which the last song you sang about sunsets appears. Please return to the Houston area soon! We were amazed at your command of all sorts of music. Thanks again and all the best to you.
Thank you for everything you've done. You are a major influence in my music today. Tonight I will see you at the Crighton Theater. As a musician myself, I know you will break my aspiring heart with your masterful guitar technique (as you did at the International Festival in Houston. But the irony and poetic beauty of you lyrics will make it all worthwhile. I'll tip a pint to you tonight, no doubt.
New Orleans, LA 2/28/07
I saw the show 2/28/07 at House of Blues in New Orleans. I've been a fan for over 30 years, but he continues to amaze. Simply put, RT is the planet's best guitarist/writer/singer.
Nashville, TN 2/27/07
I saw Mr. Thompson on Feb. 27. It was one of the best performances I've attended. Very inspiring, indeed.
Ye Olde Minstrel Man RT - Thoroughly enjoyed your solo set in Nashville a while back at the Belcourt Theater — the sixth time I've seen you perform live in a twenty-year span (two solo, four with band). The audience composition was definitely "Baby Boomer Caucasian," but appreciative just the same. This was the same show where someone's cell phone went off, and when you questioned them about it, the guilty party replied, "I think someone's killing my neighbors." Whereupon you launched into the "Dueling Banjos" riff and some spot-on remarks about inbreeding. Right smart bastard, you are — and I mean that admiringly.
Just a wonderful show in Nashville last night. Many Thanks!
Having followed Mr. Thompson since 1981 with healthy religious zeal (as opposed to that creepy sort of religious zeal), I want to say this was one of the finest shows I've seen. It combined a terrific set that hit nearly all of my personal favorites, with even better than usual playing, and a voice fresh and unravaged by later shows on a longer tour. Thank you for making it to St. Louis this time around!
Kent, OH 2/25/07
I know I'm late in writing, but I just wanted to send a thank you for an excellent show in Kent OH. I truly don't know how Richard continues to get better. As the rest of us struggle with middle age slumps, he just keeps raising the bar on excellence. His energy is infectious and has continued to lift my spirits for weeks!
just saw him in kent w my sister. my brother and his wife are long time fans. just starting to enjoy it myself. the kent show was great.
Richard, It was such a great pleasure and privilege to see and hear your recent performance in Kent. What a great lot of fun and good licks. My life partner treated me to your concert for my 45th birthday. Your music sustains me more than you can know. I can't wait for your next visit!
Dear Richard, I met you Sunday night after your show in Kent, Ohio, and my heart hasn't stopped happily skipping since. You had every woman in the audience fumbling around in her purse for a pair of glasses after your proclamation of love for smart girls. Thanks for the opportunity to talk to you and shake your hand - it was very exciting for me, and the photo turned out great. I plan to upload it to my Myspace.
I saw Richard in concert this evening at The Kent Stage in Kent, Ohio. I was absolutely blown away! I always knew Richard is a terrific songwriter, and I am familiar with his songs mainly through versions by other artists (e.g., June Tabor, Mary Black). However, I never knew Richard is such a talented guitarist and singer. I walked into his show as someon e who appreciates him, but now I count myself among his fans. (By the way, my wife and I met Richard after the show, and he is also a very nice gentleman, which makes us like him even more.) Outstanding, outstanding!
My husband and I want to thank Richard for the wonderful performance last night at Kent Stage.
Your performance at The Kent Stage last nite was fantastic.
Thank you for sharing your talent and energy.
Dear RT,

I was in attendance at the show in Kent, OH last night. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. For me, music is a spiritual experience and after last night's show I feel restored.Your music reminds me what can be achieved and how one should live their life. I have never in my life seen guitar playing like that. Never. I actually gasped in disbelief during some of the songs...So, once again, I thank you for the positive energy that you put out into this world. I was the person attempting to speak to you in Italian in the audience. I was being sincere, your Italian is good and I was just happy that someone, anyone (let alone you!) are bringing to light medieval, dialectical Italian. Bravo!

One of the most beautiful and intimate musical encounters I have ever had. Eliza was fabulous. Richard, well what can one say that would adequately describe his talent ? I've been scanning the dictionary since the show last night and have come to the conclusion that there just AREN'T words.
Saw the show last night in Kent Ohio. I kept wishing all my friends and loved ones were there to enjoy You and Eliza as much as I did. Come back soon!!
I saw your show in Ohio the other night, and it was amazing!
So glad I was at the Kent Stage to see RT's wonderful performance! Really enjoyed it.
Covington, KY 2/24/07
Thank you for the show on Saturday evening. Eliza was a welcome addition. As always, we enjoyed the evening and find your performances too few and far between.

Saw Richard in Covington KY the other day. Wonderful wonderful show. Just blown away.
Bloomington, IN 2/23/07
Didn't hear of the Bloomington, In show until after it was sold-out, but was allowed to stand in the lobby throughout, (gratefully!)
Fabulous concert in Bloomington IN last night.....guitar playing superb, British humor appreciated and new song about Bagdad (ie.,Dad) powerful and haunting....Also I really enjoyed Eliza Gilkyson's set--she is an amazing lyrcist (and not bad at playing guitar either!!)--I've added her CD Paradise Hotel to my collection.
Just want to say thanks for a great concert on Friday night in Bloomington! It had legs: I was still thinking about what a great concert that was this morning on my drive to work. Not that it should surprise me – each of the other experiences catching RT live has be fabulous. Thanks, again
St. Louis, MO 2/22/07
Loved your St Louis show.
Concert last night in St. Louis BLEW ME AWAY. How does he do that, anyway? Clapton is a demi-god next to Richard.
Hello,
I loved the St. Louis concert. The energy poured out like a standing wave. HOT, HOT, HOT! Intelligent, enlightened, baudy, long legged RIchard! Loved the muciscal complexity, so many notes I could only laugh to take it in, sweet, wild, running, full. Thanks for coming to our town baby--everybody woke up!
Glen Ellyn, IL 2/21/07
I was completely blown away by Richard's performance at the MAC! Please thank him for sharing his exceptional musical talents and rapier wit (and for honoring my request to play Dimming of the Day). I will never forget this incredible experience as long as I live.
what can one say about Dr. Thompson...come to Chicago more often!!!
Wonderful concert tonight, Thank you so much for coming to Glen Ellyn, IL - only 1/2 hr away!! For an old man, you totally rock! Seriously, best music I've ever heard in my life...thank you, come back soon!!
Wow! What a phenomenal performance last night at the MAC in Glen Ellyn, IL! Two hours of Richard and his guitar - what a great way to spend a Wednesday evening!
Your show last night ranks in my all-time top five (along with your Lupo's show). It was far and away the best solo or accoustic show I have ever seen, with Paul Geremia coming in a distant second.
I caught the show last night, along with 800 other lucky people, and must say that it was a real thrill. I kind of got the impression you also were quite moved by it...and the genuine connection between your performance and the audience's reaction has to be worth a lot. I was telling my wife on the (long) drive back to NW Indiana, that it must be very rewarding to know you can still- after all these years- pick up the guitar and connect with so many souls. Thanks for sharing. It's a fine motorbike, isn't it?
Saw you in concert 2/21/07. Fantastic! Thanks for sharing your talent with us. Husband & I, son & g'friend, brother & wife will attend again when you're in Midwest.
