We saw Richard at the EGG in Albany - great show - my first, my wife's fifth. he recommended a CD of sea chanty's and - boy oh boy - you should hear the tunes coming out of my wife's mouth now!!!
Hello! Saw Richards' show at the EGG in Albany, NY which I helped usher...first time I heard Richard---loved his show!!! Richard, please come back to Albany again--soon!!! You have a new fan!
Boston, MA 06/30/07
Saw R.T. and the boys last nite at the Berklee in Boston. R.T. brings it everytime! Fantastic show! I left in awe of the man. 19th of all time? I don't friggin' think so. Hendrix who? Clapton who? Is there a better band mate that Pete Zorn? The whole show rocked and all the guys were great. I can now go to my grave in peace. I've seen R.T. acoustic, I've seen R.T. and the band electric and I've seen the Red Sox win the World Series!!! Go, Richard, go!!! Come back with the lads soon!!!
I just returned from the Berklee show, and just thought I'd mention that the version of "Al Bowlly" tonight was particularly good.....you know, if a live disc from this tour is ever considered. It appeared that Simon was recording the show, but what do *I* know about his rig?? :) Also - the dissonant section of the "Hard On Me" solo had my wife's eyebrows waaaay up......so maybe that one's a keeper too!! Maybe you could forward my asterisk for them to put on the disc box from the show.....LOL.
saw RT on 6/30/07 at Berklee. great show!
Northampton, MA 06/29/07 Calvin, Northampton Show: I've been an RT fan for more than 20 years and was thrilled that he was touring with a band again. The show was phenomenal, one of the best concerts of my life! The band was excellent and Peter Zorn amazed us with his many talents. They played great music for two hours and the crowd was enthralled!
Glenside, PA 06/26/07
Wow. Awesome. That about sums it up. I have lost count the number of Richard's concerts I have attended over the last 30 years and not one of them was a dud. However, the June 26 concert at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA was far and beyond the best Richard Thompson concert I have attended. Everything just clicked--the song list, the solos, etc.--and the band was just great. Even my wife was awed and she prefers the acoustic side of Richard. To top it off, my teenage daughter who was a reluctant attendee had a great time and now wants to listen the Sweet Warrior album. Keep up the great music.
Just saw an awesome show at the Keswick in Philadelphia.
At The Keswick in Glenside, PA, the guitar solo on Hard On Me far exceeded the price of admission, a wonderful show!
Harrisburg, PA 06/25/07
I have seen Richard in concert 4 times, the most recent in Harrisburg in June. He just keeps getting better. It was such a joy to get to see him after the show. He is such a gentleman, so friendly and kind. What a special man.
I believe it was the fourth time for Richard at the Whitaker Center and it was great as always. It’s a unique place to see a show and when Richard comes to town, don’t miss it. It sounds so good and he knows how to make the walls scream. Followed with a meet and greet Richard knows how to make you feel good and worth the price of admission.
RT & Band, I had my solar plexus peeled like an onion, thanks from the bottom layer. What a transforming night of live art.
I was beginning to wonder if Richard was going to come back to Harrisburg since in previous tours he just grazed us with the rusty scalpel of Time. The show at the Whitaker Center rightfully featured many tunes from Sweet Warrior, destined to become a classic in the RT canon. The house was packed and this was a very attentive, audience, waiting to hear every nuance of musical gesture from the performers before the black erupted into waves of applause. Like previous reviewers, I was impressed bythe drumming of Michael Jerome. He had a uniquie way of setting up his kit to begin with -- all the cymbals and drums on a flat plane. I realized watching him play that he used every inch and edge of skin or metal that he could play upon....if there's anybody who plays the drums as tastefully as Richard plays the guitar, it's Mr. Jerome. Please come back to Harrisburg anytime you're able to swing it. We'll be there.

I would also add that whomever was in charge of the house sound that night did a fantastic job. It was a very clean sound even when the band wanted to push the envelope, musically and volume-wise. Sometimes this results in
a very painful shrill decibel overkill. Not so on the night of the 25th in Harrisburg. So props to the sound man!

Richard----thanks for ANOTHER super show @ whitaker center in harrisburg, pa on june 25. WOW!!!!! come back soon!!!!!!
Peekskill, NY 06/23/07

Washington DC 06/22/07
It was a pleasure seeing Richard live on Friday
night. Having the proceedings be webcast by NPR was an
added treat!
I have seen nearly all the well-known, big name guitar players (save for Hendrix, who died before I was old enough to know who he was) and then some, at one time or another... RT is, without question, one of the very best. He is better today than he's ever been and his electric playing is absolutely mind-boggling. This show puts me in the double digits as an RT concert attendee and what I saw last night was a blistering 2 hour rock and roll show, by one of the most seminal guitar players in the history of the instrument. Peel your face off with screaming improvisational solo tirades and in the next breath, well-you-up with a lyrical and heartbreaking celtic acoustic solo and all the flourish between?... Why sure. I'm not sure Peter Zorn is actually a human being. Have him tested. Michael Jerome first knocked me outta my boots, back on the Mock Tudor tour and did so again Friday night. The man is a stellar drummer. My condolences to Danny, his family and friends and kudos to Taras for jumping in and keeping the beat. Masterful gentleman.
Brooklyn, NY 06/21/07
thanks for putting up with the rain in Brooklyn last night. Brilliant show!
What an excellent show last night rain and all.
Buffalo, NY 06/19/07
Thanks for a GREAT show in Buffalo. We were so happy to see you again!
Richard, loved the show last night in Buffalo. I've seen you many times and they were all great. None of those shows were as satisfying and fun as this one though. Great set list! Fantastic to hear so many "deep cuts" that I've never seen you perform before. Please, please, don't wait so long to come back. Include us on your acoustic tours! Hope you have a blast on the rest of the tour.
I saw RT's show at the Tralf in Buffalo on June 19 and it was excellent. The boys did a great job of making up for the sudden departure of Danny Thompson and put on a show that nearly brought the house down. This was alos the first time my wife had seen him play and she was thoroughly blown away. Bravo.
Richard's show at the Tralf in Buffalo on June 19 was nothing short of amazing. On the heels of Danny's sad departure, the band scrambled to "re-jig the band" as RT said, and absolutely nailed it with emotion, humor and energy. I feel bad that I cannot remember his name, but high praise goes to their guitar tech who stepped up to the plate for several songs when Pete Zorn couldn't play two instruments at the same time (slacker). And Mr. Jerome never fails to astonish, especially during "Hard on Me". I was torn over who to watch because I knew I was missing something spectacular on another part of the stage. Over two hours of fanastic new songs and impeccable choices from the catalog. Thankyouthankyouthankyou for "Bright Lights Tonight". The six hours of driving are meaningless now that I have the memories of that show. Thank you again. And please pass on our thoughts and prayers to Danny Thompson and family.
Cleveland, OH 06/18/07
A fantastic show tonight in Cleveland at the HOB despite the meager crowd. Consummate entertainers all! Can't wait to buy the new album!!!
Having Richard Thompson perform in Northeast Ohio
twice in a four month period...priceless. The House
of Blues was rockin' red hot for two hours. Whew!!
We can only hope he will come back soon!
I went with my wife and sister-in-law. We were astounded! What great harmonies in the backup vocals, myriad of instruments, heavy duty sax playing! Yikes! What a fantastic drummer, so composed and powerful (he did not need a gigantic drum kit!) he got the greatest sounds and laid out that perfect beat. Super cymbals and brushes...Richard Thompson is a great artist. I had no idea! I'd only had "Rumor and Sigh" because I'd heard "Vincent Black Lightning"and fell in love with it (and Jimmy Shands), and I knew he wrote "Wall of Death".To see RT change the tuning on his acoustic and put such power and grace into Vincent Black Lightning was really special. I loved the way he would work through his guitar performances with the melody and structure in place while he was really going places. What a treat! True Rock n'Roll. And beautiful ballads.Songwriting, your great vocals and the things you get a guitar to do, mere words can not express the awe. THANK YOU for coming to Cleveland!!!
Manchester, TN 06/15/07
Well, he's simply the greatest songwriter, musician of at least the past 1,000 years, no? I finally had the great fortune to see RT live for the first time recently at the Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee. It was a profoundly moving experience. He's quite easily the greatest musical artist I've ever heard, seen. I wish he would tour with his band more often and more widely in the U.S.
Richard, I saw your performance at Bonneroo and I considered it the most inspired by far of the acts I saw there. The Del McCrory song you played was magnificent and brought tears to my eyes in recognition of its brilliant rendition. What was the name of it? I am not one given to platitudes or hero worship and am definately not a "groupie", just an aging professional from the hippie era who appreciates genuine enthusiam and technical proficiency due to hard work and true love of the art. Please play one of the fine clubs in the Cleveland area soon!
Thank you
I finally got to be in the audience for Richard's set at Bonnaroo. It was the highlight of the entire festival for me. What a master!
Chicago, IL 06/13/07
Thanks for a great show at Park West in Chi-town on 6/13!!
Saw last night's show at the Park West. This is the first time I've experienced the whole band. I've seen Richard and Danny together. but add Mr's Zorn and Jerome into the mix and WOW!! I stood amazed at the back of the room. The new work is tight. I can't get Sweet Warrior out of my CD player!! Thanks again for, as usual, a wonderful show. Wish I were going to Cropredy this year!
Like so many people, my first RT record was "Shoot out the Lights", and I've been picking up others for a few years now. Saw my first RT show at Park West last night, FANTASTIC! Bought "Sweet Warrior" today, also terrific! "Sunset Song" is my new favorite RT song. You just blew my wife and I away (I was the very tall guy in the Hawaiian shirt right in front of RT, sorry if I blocked your view)and we will definitely see him every Chicago appearance from now on! So much fun, such killer licks! Come back and do the "1000 Years" show again, please!
Iowa City, IA 06/12/07
I saw Richard and the band play at the Englert Theatre in Iowa City last week. All I can say is, for those of you planning to see this tour, you are in for a treat. Absolutely amazing show! It's the first time I've seen Richard do an electric show. "Wow!" is about all I can say! Not only does he play a great playlist, covering all eras, but he's assembled a great band as well. Go see this tour, you will not regret it...
Attended his recent concert in Iowa City, Iowa and was blown away! I've purchased everything I can get - "Sweet Warrior" is fantastic!
6/12/07 show in Iowa City was a peak musical experience....thank you so much...best wishes
St. Paul, MN 06/11/07
Excellent mix of music last night with both new and classics. The band sounds amazing and Michael Jerome is an amazing drummer. Although it was a Monday, I always leave inspired from your shows. The lyrics and music releases that pent up artist in me. Thanks again Richard and please come back soon. Your grateful red molly.
Great show last night at the Fitz, guys. Come back soon!
Boulder, CO 06/09/07
Richard Thompson at Chautauqua Park in Boulder, like coffee outside the Pantheon, like browsing Ralph Steadman on Charing Cross Rd., reading Dylan Thomas at the White Horse Saloon, and listening to Hank Williams on the jukebox at Tootsie's, one of my favorite things. "Ting-a-ling, the devil leans on your bell."
